Yesterday, while I styled the room, my daughter walked in and said, “Mommy, I love this room.” In the hustle and bustle of working and stressing during the One Room Challenge #bhgorc, I had forgotten why I had started this project in the first place–to create a beautiful and functional space for my girls. Her comment was the greatest praise I could get for our hard work.
Don’t ever forget the purpose of investing in your home–to create spaces that allow for bonding, peace and joy. A lot of memories, and, hopefully rest, will happen in this room for years to come.
To give you the full impact of the room makeover, you have to see where we started. It is always fun to see the before photos because it adds another layer of satisfaction to the reveal! When we moved into the house, the room seemed to be created for boys. It was way too dark for my taste!
I painted the room gray so that it could feel more light in the room. As you can see, the room was functional, but not very pretty.
Below is the reveal photos of the room! Just as a reminder, this last week we had new windows installed by Renewal by Anderson, painted the trim, installed the canopy, brought the chair in, hung curtains and art, and styled the room with lighting and accessories. I hope you enjoy seeing the room as much as my sweet little girls enjoy being in this room.

I added these panorama photos so you could see more of the room elements together.
Special thanks to my husband who was convinced my “Just one more thing” was always a lie. He offered me a compliment last night that I treasure. He said, “This is a designer room.” This hopeful designer could not create this without the talent and support of Cody.
Here is a list of companies I purchased from or partnered with to bring the design to life:
Beddy’s, Livettes Wallpaper, Home Depot, Target, World Market, Burlington Coat Factory, Renewal by Anderson, Etsy, JJ’s House, Michaels. Let me know if you have any specific question about something in the room.
Thank you for following along and encouraging me! This has been a challenge well worth taking on. I hope you will check out the other reveals at One Room Challenge and congratulate the other participants too!
Best,
Lucy Bowman

Oh my goodness, I absolutely adore it! Was hoping to find you on Instagram!!
This room is so beautiful! Sweet and stylish at the same time. I love how you keep it real too. “Time to up the mess I made in the rest of the house…” – that is so true with any project! I’m inspired! Thank you.
