As a mom of four, finding the most comfortable t shirts is high on my list of priorities. I don’t want to mess with undershirts and I need shirts that can go with my favorite pair of jeans or leggings any day of the week.
The other factor in choosing a shirt is the softness, fit, quality and washability.
Softness: Most of the shirts I love are a combination of cotton, polyester and spandex or is 100% organic cotton. Read the reviews of the shirts to find commentary on how it feels on the skin.
Fit: I loathe shirts that hug my arms and tummy. A t shirt should be comfortable! I prefer sleeves that come further down my arm and I like a t -shirt that gives enough space for my kid pooch, but doesn’t make me look frumpy. This is a lot to ask, but it can be done.
Another consideration for fit is how it will look with the jeans or pants that you frequently wear. If you like to tuck in your shirts or not will help you know what kind of shirt you want too.
Lastly is the fit of the pattern or words on the shirt. It should fit your style and your best colors. Here is an article outlining how to find out what skin tone you have and what colors look best with your skin tone.
Quality: Usually the cost matches the quality of the shirt, but this isn’t always the case. I have found that when I am willing to pay more than $5 for a t shirt, the shirt will last much longer.
Washability: I cannot abide a shirt that has to be hand-washed or dry-cleaned at this stage of my life. It has got to be a hardy shirt that can handle accidentally getting washed with the baby clothes. Always check the washing instructions before buying.
Madewell is a common denominator in most of the tee research that hit all of my requirements.
Kohls had the t shirt that surprised me the most in comfort and fit.
Truly, moms should be looking for simplicity in their wardrobe. Focus on stylish comfort that is kind to your figure and your pocketbook.
