Wow! Jane is at home now, and I survived.
Having a baby was the hardest thing I have ever done and taking care of a new baby continues to be challenging each new day! Most of you seasoned moms are saying…”Welcome to motherhood!” I am actually very grateful to have many of my friends that have already had children who have been able to help me with questions.
Cody and I drove to the Agape Birth Center in Rigby, Idaho at about 10:30 Thursday evening. The labor and delivery went well expect for the middle part when Jane couldn’t get past the cervix for about three hours. It felt much much longer than that by the way. When I was able to actually push and make some progress, about an hour and a half later Jane was in my arms.
She didn’t cry when she came out, but rather lifted her head up and took a look at Cody and I. Of course having her right next to me when she came out was the best part of the whole thing.
Cody did such a good job taking care of me and supporting me throughout the entire process. I could not have been able to do it without him. I am so lucky to have such a great husband, and I can now see how right I was about him being a wonderful dad. He is such a proud daddy.
The midwives at the birth center were wonderful and, despite how hard it was, I am so pleased with my experience.
I am slowly feeling a little better each day, and I have been lucky enough to have help from my sisters Adell and Joanie, Cody and those in our ward that have been so generous with meals.
Cody’s parents and sister came to see us on Sunday. We are grateful that they came to see us.
Jane is a very well-tempered baby, and I love to watch her grow each day.
Happy and tired mom signing off for now.
She's seriously the cutest thing! Congrats again.
Oh my goodness Lucy – you're a mom!!! Congratulations!!! These next six weeks are the "newborn fog". It gets better, you eventually feel rested, stop hurting, and your child learns to sleep through the night – I promise!!!!!
Jane is absolutely adorable bytheway. I'm so glad you're both (well really, all 3 home!) and doing well. Hang in there girl!
What a little doll! Congrats and I'm glad it all went well.
She is beautiful, Lucy! I love the picture of Cody kissing her, that is a treasure. I hope all is well…this first while is hard. It does get easier! Good luck!
