Home Office Inspiration for Dedicated Writer

Home Office Inspiration for Dedicated Writer

This post is all about offering home office inspiration for a dedicated writer.

I decided to write about this because…I have a wonderful announcement.

I am writing a book. It has been formulating in my mind for over a year now, and right before my father passed away I made a mental and financial investment in making my ideas a reality. I am not going to share any details with you right now, but I will share more as the time draws closer to launch my book.

I plan to finish the book at the end of April, and I have had office space on the mind! There are a lot of things that need to be aligned for me to be able to write at an optimum level, including the space.

Here is my formula for inviting inspiration while I write:

  • My mind needs to be clear and positive. (Meditate and think happy thoughts)
  • There cannot be a lot of outside distractions like kids, loud music and worries. (Eliminate distractions)
  • I need to feel inspired by ideas or people that I have connected with recently. (Seek inspiration through reading, listening or interacting with others.)
  • I have time set aside for the purpose of writing (Plan chunks of time that can be devoted to your writing goal.)
  • There is someone (husband, accountability partner) or something (money) to report to. (Accountability)
  • When I have a space that is bright and organized, my mind follows suit. (Prep the environment for focused creativity.) OUR TOPIC FOR TODAY.

Here are some common patterns I see in offices that I love to work in are:

  • they have lots of natural light from windows
  • they have a lot of color or are very simple
  • they have space for books but the desk is left mostly open
  • they have another place to sit and think

I am in the process right now of figuring how to set up an area of the house completely devoted to my writing. Right now, honestly, I write on sofas, beds and just about anywhere else I can sit comfortably and in silence. Our guest bedroom has been calling my name because it has wonderful natural light in the morning and it isn’t used for anything else. I will start planning and after my mom comes for her visit, I think I will tackle the project of creating an official home office for me (a dedicated writer 😉

So, enjoy these beautiful home office rooms and think about how you can set aside time to write your own history through journal writing, a letter, a poem or your own book.
