Hello Friends!
This is my third installment of the Friend to Friend posts and I am actually as excited to write this as the first time, which does not always happen when I start a series. This friend to friend is more organized than usual because it was easy to break it up into two actions–creating and consuming.

I am collaborating with All Modern for a Spring Minimalist Living Room Refresh. I got a new piece of furniture from the company, and I will be showing you how I style it in my living room and how you can implement similar features in your room. Stay tuned for that reveal!
All Modern is having a large sale right now…up to 50% off!
You can peruse tons more minimalist style with AllModern via their Minimal Modern Furniture, Minimalist Sofas, Minimal TV Stands, Minimalist Rugs, Minimalist Floor Lamps, Minimalist Table Lamps, Minimalist Chairs, Modern Wood Coffee Tables, and Effortless Minimalist Living Room Ideas. Excited to share more later this spring!
Speaking of reveals, I am behind on revealing the shared nursery with you. I was really hoping to be done with Jane and Bonnie’s room by now, but life is very busy. Cody is better with tools and precise measurements and he is also at work most of the time. He is, honestly, better at everything that has to do with building. I have the vision, but I lack the DIY skills. I have thought many times that I need to hone in on these skills, but I also have to be realistic about what I can do with five children, two of which are babies.
Even if I did attempt to do the work myself, Cody would likely “fix” it since he is a perfectionist. Lately, it is really hard to get projects done because He has business plans that he is eager to work on and my projects draw his energy and time away from it. I don’t blame him for not wanting to do it, but I am hoping this weekend will be the last weekend we work on the beadboard and trim for the room. The rest of the work, like painting and styling, will be my job, and it is something I really enjoy.
I am trying to decide what color to paint the existing furniture in the room…a bed and a dresser with a mirror. Right now it is dark wood. I don’t hate dark wood, but I really envisioned the room being mostly white with blue, gold and pink accents. Have you ever painted a piece of furniture a color other than black or white?
The frames I bought from the thrift store for the gallery wall are coming along too. I got the gold clips and I spray painted the multicolored frames. I am waiting to get my gold rub n buff from Amazon to be able to make all the frames a uniform color. These frames will outline my kids’ artwork and hang in the nursery. Here is the picture and source that inspired this small project.
My husband was out of town this week and I was reminded of a post that I wrote at the height of Cody traveling. I will link it here if you are getting used to having your husband gone again, now that Covid restrictions have lifted. How to Enjoy Motherhood While Your Husband is Out of Town
My current interest is reading more. I feel more inspiration when I am learning. Creating is hard without consuming goodness for my mind.
Here are the books I just ordered.
Two other big interests right now are capsule wardrobes and flower design. I want to order this book next.
Also, Amazon is rolling out a new feature called Kindle Vella that allows authors to publish their writing one episode at a time. It is like a modern book series that is published in short installments. Would you read a book, an episode at a time? I have a book that I think would be great for this sort of thing, but I wonder if people would be willing to read in this way.
I hope you are having a great week, and I look forward to chatting, friend-to-friend next week.
Until next time,
Lucy Jo
