Friend to Friend Friday

Dear Friend,

I really want these Friday emails to be a way for me to connect with you like a friend would if they were going out to lunch to catch up. Friend to friend Friday is meant to be more personal and a time to share things with you that are making a difference in my life and home.

Tomorrow I am 36 weeks pregnant. I have been dealing with gestational diabetes, heartburn and restless legs. I am at the point where I will likely sleep better after the baby is born.

To help with sleep I have been using pillows to prop up my big belly, stretching before bed, and taking Tums and Insulin. Also, I have added my two carriers that I use when baby is born, both from Lillebaby and the breast pump that is so helpful once baby arrives. I have a whole post of the baby things I love here.

Something that I am looking to make for this next post-partum journey is a custom side table that I can have next to my reclining chair. I want it to be able to fit some Dollar Store blush pink locker bins I recently got, my breast pump and any other items that I want handy without having to go far to get it. I gave Cody a rough drawing of the design I am hoping for and he purchased the wood to make it. Now the real challenge will be to get Cody to work on a furniture project amidst his metal casting adventures. (Hopefully I will have some fun announcement about metal casting soon.)

Friend to Friend-Nursery Plans

I am also eager to create a nursery space for baby girl. She will eventually be sharing a room with her oldest sister, so I designed a room that I think will fit both of them. The only thing I really have for the baby is this mini crib that will fit well in the small room she will be sharing with her sister.

Here is the first mood board.

Here is the second round. This one is more whimsical, simple and neutral. I don’t think Jane will like it as much, but I sure do like it. If I went this direction, I would be stenciling the birds on a vine onto the wall. I have never tried this before, but I think it would look super cool.

New Additions to my Beauty Routine

I also wanted to share that I have updated some of my skincare, hair care and makeup recommendations. One big change is the shampoo and conditioner that I am using. I went from using expensive hair care that was literally ruining my hair to having healthy and thick hair again. Enter Kevin Murphy Hair Care! My stylist recommended it and the difference has been so good.

I also stopped using the IT cosmetics foundation because it was really clogging my pores and started to use Bare Minerals BarePro Liquid Foundation (Cool Beige is my color. I used Ulta’s Virtual Try-On feature and I got a perfect match for my skin.)

This foundation has been so much better and leaves my skin feeling supple and it doesn’t come off onto everything. The last two big changes has been in my cleansing device. I got a PMD and a new water bottle for Christmas. Using a quality cleansing device and drinking more water has also been awesome. I have linked the additions to my hair care, skin care and make-up routines below.

Friend to Friend-Recent Goodies

Lastly, I thought I would share an Etsy shop that I bought a cute swaddle and bow from, a maternity outfit that I live in and the birthday gifts I am excited to get for my oldest daughter (turning 10) which include a new phone tripod for her to record art videos for a youtube channel she wants to start (tripod linked below), new earrings from Little and Five and new clothes/shoes.

Lastly, I have started to write more about learning parenting lessons from my children. Here is the first of this series and I have another one to be published this weekend, so look out for it!

Thank you for being here and I hope you will reach out to me if you have any questions. admin at lucyjohome dot come.

Best,

Lucy
